Blackburn Media has exciting new opportunities for Summer Road Crew Members at our Chatham
location. Blackburn Media’s Summer Road Crew Program is the “Brand Ambassador” for our stations;

Position Title: Summer Road Crew Member (Part-Time Seasonal)
Reports To: Marketing & Promotions Coordinator
Start/End Date: May 21 – September 2, 2024

Responsibilities:
●Attend all major station promotions, designated client promotions, and non-profit events
● Proactively engage with listeners, clients and the general public while on-location
● Distribution of promotional items including station marketing and swag items
● Set up, maintain, and keep inventory of signage, station equipment, station vehicles, prizing etc.
● Assist with social media management including written posts and stories
● Other duties relating to event management as assigned
● Report to the Marketing & Promotions Coordinator

Required Skills And Qualifications:
● High level of initiative/self motivation
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
● Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
● Conceptual, creative thinker and problem solver
● Must enjoy a fast-paced work environment that is based on team & individual effort
● A valid driver’s license (for station vehicles) and reliable transportation
● A positive, friendly manner and customer service approach
● Must be at least 18 years old
● Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (ex: Weekdays, Weekends and Evenings)
● Experience in the media and broadcasting industry considered an asset

HR & Payroll Coordinator (London, Ontario)

Blackburn Media Inc. is a family-owned media company. We operate 13 radio stations across Southwestern Ontario, 12 websites, 5 community news portals and a Digital advertising group. Our vision is as grand as it is simple: to entertain and inform our consumers, while at the same time provide our advertising partners with new ways to reach potential customers on-air, digitally and online.

We are looking to hire a talented full-time Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator to work in-person with our head office team.

Reporting to Director of Operations, the HR & Payroll Coordinator will oversee payroll and benefits operations for salary and hourly employees in a non-union and unionized environment, while providing administrative support to the human resources function, maintaining the HRIS and keeping accurate and up-to-date confidential employee files.

This is an opportunity to help build and maintain strong processes, practices, and workflows to ensure smooth, compliant, and timely administration of HR and payroll.

As an HR & Payroll coordinator, you will:

  • Provide on-going payroll administration to ensure the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll, associated reconciliations, adjustments, deductions, taxes, etc.
  • Enter and maintain employee information in HR tracking systems including the payroll system and HRIS
  • Processing new hires, employee changes and terminations of salary, hourly employees.
  • Compiling year-end requirements, including processing and reporting for T4, T4A, taxable benefits, WSIB and submitting government filings in a timely manner.
  • Performing customer service function by answering employee requests and questions and escalating as appropriate.
  • Developing strong relationships with payroll providers to quickly troubleshoot issues, including amending ROE’s, special pay runs, and other time sensitive transactions.
  • Understanding and interpreting government legislation to ensure compliance regarding pay/deductions/benefits/taxes/documentation.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc HR projects and initiatives.
  • Managing WSIB claims from reviewing accident reporting, managing workers compensation claims to appealing claims.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you will bring to this role:

  • Relevant College/University degree or diploma (i.e., Human Resources, Business, Accounting, Finance etc.),
  • Minimum of 3+ years relevant work experience in payroll and HR.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with an emphasis on providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to maintain performance when faced with tight deadlines and frequent changes.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee personnel files, ensuring security, integrity, and confidentiality of data, adhering to legal and ethical standards.
  • Proficiency in Ceridian
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or working towards the completion of the PCP certification.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
