Promotions Coordinator (Windsor, ON)

Blackburn Media is looking for a Promotions Coordinator for the Windsor-Essex Market.

We’re looking for an outgoing, driven and creative individual with the ability to think “outside-the-box.”  This individual should be a social media wiz, love being around people and working as part of a team but have the ability to take initiative and work independently to get things done.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing and executing/implementing station and sales-driven promotions, contests, and events
  • Schedule promotional campaigns and manage prizing distribution
  • Create and manage social media campaigns/channels
  • Assist with website management
  • Reception, office supply management and administrative duties as assigned
  • Corresponding with community events and organizations
  • Managing and communicating promotion calendars and newsletters
  • Creating, editing and managing promotional material for our group of radio stations
  • Setting up, maintaining and keeping inventory of signage, station equipment, station vehicles, prizing etc
  • Coordination of our seasonal and occasional brand representatives, including training and scheduling for on-site appearances
  • Creating wrap reports of station and sales-based events and promotions
  • Additional duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Promotional or marketing background preferred
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with social media platforms and multimedia in a professional setting
  • Valid G2 driver’s license required
  • Must be willing to work extended, flexible hours (evenings and/or weekends when needed)
  • Punctual and detail oriented
  • Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work well under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Responsible, reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidential and sensitive information
  • Computer skills: Must be fluent with Microsoft and Google Office. Experience with Adobe Photoshop and other creative software would be considered an asset

Reporter/Weekend News Anchor (Chatham, ON)

Blackburn Media Inc. is looking for an energetic journalist to work in our newsroom in Chatham, Ontario.


Your duties will include, but not be limited to: weekend newscasting on our three radio stations, field and desk reporting, creating content for CKNewsToday.ca, and social media engagement.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A diploma or degree in journalism from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Exceptional news judgement.
  • An ability to write clear and concise news stories for on-air and online presentation.
  • A strong on-air sound.
  • A strong work ethic.
  • A critical mind and a willingness to dig for the story.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Creative Writer (Midwestern, ON)

Blackburn Media Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Creative Writer in our Wingham location.

If you can flip between targeting fans of Country, Great Hits & Real Classics, and Today’s Best Music to creatively attain the goals of our stations and our clients, send us your samples.

We’re looking for someone who can meet and exceed deadlines, be able to adjust quickly to changing priorities, pays great attention to detail, works with discretion, can work independently while providing high levels of customer service, and most of all, be creative!

Previous writing experience is required.  Prior exposure to and expertise in SDS, Media Touch, Adobe Audition, especially in a production capacity, is a huge asset.

Summer Cruiser – Promotion/Marketing (Wingham, ON)

A part-time opportunity where you will spend your weekend visiting local community events and representing our radio stations.  Don’t worry, this job does not include on air responsibilities, but it does require a fun, friendly and energetic personality. You will represent CKNX AM 920, 101.7 The One and CoOL 94.5 at events across Midwestern Ontario.  

Work week is 7 and a half hours per day every Friday, Saturday and Sunday (22.5 hours per week) starting Jun 30, 2023 through Sept 3, 2023.  

  • Work closely with Community Marketing and Promotions preparing a weekly schedule
  • Attend station events and maximize station’s on-site presence at community events
  • Driving the Summer Cruiser throughout Midwestern Ontario, primarily evenings and weekends
  • Proactively engage listeners, clients and general public
  • Update stations social media and website including photos and blogs
  • Maintain upkeep of station vehicles (fuel, cleaning, etc) and promotional signage
  • Complete summer cruiser report of weekly activities
  • Additional duties as assigned by Community Marketing and Promotions

Skills Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in media or marketing preferred but not necessary
  • Valid G or G2 driver’s license with a Clean 3 year Ministry of Transportation abstract

  • Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Works well within a team and in a high paced environment
