Summer Cruiser – Promotion/Marketing

A part time opportunity where you will spend your weekend visiting local community events and representing our radio stations. Don’t worry, this job does not include on air responsibilities, but it does require a fun, friendly and energetic personality. You will represent CKNX AM 920, 101.7 The One and CoOL 94.5 at events across Midwestern Ontario.

Work week is 7 and a half hours per day every Friday, Saturday and Sunday (22.5 hours per week) starting June 26, 2026 through September 6, 2026.

  • Work closely with Community Marketing and Promotions preparing a weekly schedule
  • Attend station events and maximize station’s on-site presence at community events
  • Driving the Summer Cruiser throughout Midwestern Ontario, primarily evenings and weekends
  • Proactively engage listeners, clients and general public
  • Update stations social media and website including photos and blogs
  • Maintain upkeep of station vehicles (fuel, cleaning, etc) and promotional signage
  • Complete summer cruiser report of weekly activities
  • Additional duties as assigned by Community Marketing and Promotions
  • Skills Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in media or marketing preferred but not necessary
  • Valid G or G2 driver’s license with a Clean 3-year Ministry of Transportation abstract

Media Sales Representative (Sarnia, Ontario)

Blackburn Media is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Media Sales Representative to join our Sarnia Sales Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for selling advertising space across our media platforms—including digital, radio broadcast (COOL FM, FOXFM and CHOK), and social media—to help clients grow their businesses. This role combines prospecting, client relationship management, and strategic selling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and generate new advertising sales leads through cold calling, networking, and prospecting.
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly & annual sales goals on COOL FM/FOX FM/CHOK & Digital Platforms.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure continued business and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct client meetings to understand marketing needs and present tailored advertising solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling media proposals and presentations.
  • Negotiate contracts and close sales
  • Collaborate with internal teams (creative, production, graphic design and programing) to execute campaigns effectively.
  • Receivables Control
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience in media sales, digital / radio advertising, or related fields (2+ years preferred).
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, radio advertising, and emerging platforms.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Goal-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Digital Marketing or related field (preferred)

Junior Broadcast Engineer (Windsor & Chatham-Kent, Ontario)

Blackburn Media Inc. has an exciting entry-level opportunity for a Junior Broadcast Engineer serving the Windsor-Essex/Chatham-Kent region. Are you a tech-savvy individual looking to launch your career in the fast-paced world of broadcast media? Are you a motivated “maker” who loves troubleshooting and is eager to learn the ropes from a seasoned engineering team?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support: Assist in the repair and maintenance of AM/FM Media transmitters, antenna systems, audio consoles, and studio broadcast equipment.
  • Network Assistance: Support the maintenance of the Wheatstone AoIP audio distribution system and general IT infrastructure (servers, workstations, and local networks).
  • System Documentation: Help design, install, and create detailed documentation for new computer systems and studio hardware.
  • Field Work: Travel to remote transmitter sites across Essex County for routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to assist with emergency technical repairs (24-hour response).
  • Collaboration: Work across our Windsor and Leamington offices, supporting both the engineering team and on-air staff.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree in Broadcast Technology, Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience; we are willing to train a candidate with the right foundational skills and a “can-do” attitude.
  • Technical Aptitude: Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking in a Windows environment.
  • Eagerness to Learn: A strong interest in FM/AM transmission, RF systems, and AoIP technology (Wheatnet-IP).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • Outdoor Capability: Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions at transmitter sites.
  • Mobility: Must possess a valid Class G license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Availability: Flexibility to work varied hours and participate in an on-call rotation.

Bonus Assets:

  • Familiarity with WideOrbit, KLZ Newsroom, or SDS software.
  • Experience with basic wiring, soldering, or hobbyist electronics.
  • Knowledge of VLANs, firewalls, or wireless networking.
